Chief Creative Officer, President
After four years of a Fine Art degree program (BfA) with intentions to teach (B.Ed) Eric accepted employ from IBM Canada. Eric spent several years in the business world working closely with many Fortune 500 clients for IBM Canada. This eclectic managerial experience allowed him the opportunity to witness client side business issues across many business sectors through CEO, CFO and CIO perspectives.
In a full circle move, the launch of Scribblers’ Club satisfied a desire to help businesses connect with their clients. Several years later Scribblers’ Club has become a muse to Eric. He attributes much of the Scribblers’ Club client success to the collaboration of smart business people and the Scribblers’ Club members. He will tell you there are no “prima donna designers” in the club. They do not fit the ethic of our business. “If fluorescent paper works, then it gets used”. Scribblers’ Club is recognized for its high calibre of work, Eric is a media sponge that acts as helmsman to the collective soul of Scribblers and its clients.
As one of fifteen invited international delegates Eric was invited to Fox River Paper’s advisory board. Fox River is the largest privately owned US paper mill. Fox River had become familiar with the work of Scribblers’ Club and felt the work and ethics of the firm reflected uniquely Canadian leading edge design. The international collective was instrumental in a significant direction change for the mill and led to the introduction of Fox River “Mill Direct” and Custom Sheet production programs. These ideas came from a marriage of the mill’s unique production capabilities with the demands of its clients. The direction change took the mill out of the commodity business of “white sheets” into the exclusive arena of custom specified higher margin “premium sheet” work. As much as Eric contributed to the Fox business model, it was the connections he made with creative talent from across the US, Hawaii, and Tokyo that influence him the most.
